A new Captain

Welcome to voyages of the sparrow, a blog where I will recount the adventures of the cruising sailboat Sparrow.  Sparrow is a Pearson 10M sailboat, 33 feet long, 6 foot draft and 11 foot beam.  She has a skeg hung rudder and a solid long fin keel which is quite a seaworthy setup.  People have used these boats as a blue water cruiser with great success.  Originaly built in Newport, Rhode Island in 1974 she has had 2 previous owners that I know of who have lived aboard her.  I purchased her in August 2010 near Bridgeport, CT and sailed her over a 1000 miles down to Hilton Head Island, SC.  She has most recently acquired a brand new captain; Dame Darcy.  Dame Darcy is a very talented and famous artist and musician who painted a great mural inside the cabin of Sparrow.
